A Stork Visits the Fool's Gold Vet
Cameron and Rina McKenzie got the best first anniversary present a couple could hope for – a visit from the stork. Their son Jonah was born at 9:15 p.m. on January 21, precisely one year and seven hours after the couple said “I do.”
“I’d been craving Mexican food,” Rina says. She and her husband are on their sofa. Beside them is Cameron’s daughter Kaitlyn, nine years old, holding her baby brother in her lap. “Cameron took me to Margaritaville to celebrate. I don’t know if the salsa was extra spicy or what, but I went into labor a week early.”
“I thought I was going to be really cool,” Cameron adds. “I’ve helped lots of animals give birth, but man, it’s different when it’s your wife.”
“It better be!” Rina feigns outrage, sending Kaitlyn into a fit of giggles.
“I wanted to name him Noah after our dog,” Kaitlyn says.
Rina kisses the top of her stepdaughter’s head. “We thought he should have a name that was all his own, and we thought Jonah was close enough to keep Kaitlyn happy.”
“It’s a pretty good name,” Kaitlyn admits. “I think he likes it.”
