Casino Developers Begin Permitting Process

Champagne flowed freely on the steps of the Fool’s Gold City Hall today as city staff, citizens, and developers celebrated the signing of the first permit for a luxury casino, hotel, and resort that will be built in the mountains outside of town.

“This is a big win for Fool’s Gold,” said Mayor Marsha Tilson. “Not only will we benefit from the tax revenues and tourist dollars generated by the casino, but this means jobs… and lots of them.”

Construction, slated to begin later this year, will be overseen by billionaire developer Elliot Janack. Janack and his son Tucker are part Má a-zib, the native tribe of Fool’s Gold, which is why they’re able to build on Má a-zib land.

Noticeably absent from the festivities was City Planner Charity Golden, who was instrumental in getting the project green-lighted by the City Council. While Charity is on maternity leave, Pia O’Brian, the city Event Planner, stepped into her shoes for the final negotiations.

“Charity will return the favor in about four months,” Pia said, patting her own burgeoning baby bump. Pia’s engagement ring caught the sunlight as she stepped to the podium to introduce Mr. Janack amid raucous cheers.

“This town knows how to party,” he said, prompting the decibel level to rise again. “And Janack Construction wants to be part of that. We’re thrilled to announce that the name of our casino will be The Lucky Lady, in honor of the strong and proud women of Fool’s Gold!”

Obviously, Janack is as skilled at public relations as he is at construction management… and refreshingly flirtatious, according to the mayor.
